Great day for the club in Killaloe on Saturday last where a field of 131 took on the challenging . Clare devitt put in a great performance to come third lady on the day with a time of 1:11:29. Mary Ryan also put in a great perfromance just missing the top ten spot, she finished 12th lady with time of 1:26:15. Rory and Brian Devitt came in 6th and 10th overall with times of 1:01:14 and 1:02:14. The distance was 5k 16k 3k with mix of on and off road running. 1 Comment It was a fantastic day for the club yesterday. We had 12 club members starting and finishing the race. It was a great sight to see all the red and black tri suits on the course. Well done to Clare Devitt on her 2nd place performance in the lady cat with a time of 1:01:51 at the event. Tommy Byrnes led the men home in 11th place with time of 53:39 followed by Noel Ryan in 17th with a time of 56:04. Other club members who towed the line included Brian Devitt, Keith Kelly, Denis Cremmins, Stephan Ryan, Jimmy Hally, Tony Delany, Kevin Mcgrath, Martina Byrnes, and Paddy Callaghan. Full Results here All the photos from the day here The first multisport race of this year took place this past Sunday the 20th of January. This duathlon is the first of a 3 part series. The next 2 take place on the 24th of February and the 24thof March. Some club members are already signed up to these races, so they are good ones to go too for first timers as lads from the club will be there to give advice if needed. There was a massive turnout of 220 people even though it was freezing cold with some light snow before the race kicked off. Tommy Byrnes had a great day leading the club home in 10th place with a time of 1:02:04, The other club members who raced included Brian Devitt, Noel Ryan and Martina Byrnes with times and places of (17) 1:03:33, (38) 1:06:55 and (110) 1:16:14 respectively. The 3 lads and 1 gal said it was a great day out irrespective of the cold as they all got to blow the early season cob webs out!!!!!! A great performance by club member Johnny Forester completing the course in a time of 01:05:03 gave him 11th place overall on the day and just missing out on the top ten. Tommy Led the club home in 12th place with a great performance in a time of 1:13:25. In 15th Brian with time 01:14:14 , In 55 Keith with 01:22:27, in 58 Martin with 01:22:54, in 128 Paddy with 01:37:52 and in 152 with 01:47:08 Richie. Local lads Graham butler representing limerick tri and Noel Ryan representing Waterford tri also put in great performances coming 11th and 16th with times of 01:12:42 and 01:15:27. The club was represented by 5 athletes in a field of over 200, Tommy Byrnes put in a superb performance to break into the top ten coming in 9th place and leading the club home. Clare Devitt and Martina Byrnes put in excellent performances to come 6th and 10th places in the ladys Category. Brian Devitt and Johnny Forester both got what they felt were very harsh and unfair 1 min penalty’s added to their bike splits knocking both lads back a number of positions. Overall a great day for Tipperary Triathlon Club at our first official race as a club. The next Duathlon is on in the 4th of February in Fingal Dublin with some club members attending. There was a strong field of 109 athletes in total. Tommy had a time of 1:14:43 getting him 17th, Brian Devitt and John Mc Cormac came 21st and 52nd with times of 1:16:42 and 1:25:54. The lads run bike run splits were as follows Tommy 15:39 40:56 16:49 Brian 15:41 42:51 17:03 John 16:54 47:53 19:05 Tippwheelers/Tipperary Tri club were well represented in the Limerick Tri club duathlon on Sunday 20th of February with four club members taking part in the race. The race consisted of a 4.6k run, 20k bike, 4.6k run. There were 132 finishers on the day. Brian Devitt led the club home in 11th place with a time of 1:18:32. Graham Butler, Liam Butler and Tommy Byrne’s came 13th, 15th and 17th with times of 1:18:57, 1:19:30 and 1:19:57 respectively. The lads all considered the race a great warm up for the coming season of races.
